As a young boy my interest in food was always more than just eating it. Coming from French heritage and influenced by the ethnic groups around me I learned to not be afraid of mixing foods to come up with different flavors. I will say that they were not always the best tasting creations, but I did learn what not to do as well as what mixed well together.
The idea of creating edible works of art to interest the masses was a challenge I welcomed. Having worked in my Uncles’ diner for six years, until I got out of high school, I thought I had a strong hold on the culinary Fare, I soon learned I was wrong. However after 2 years at the Culinary Institute and an apprenticeship I realized that the learning process as a Culinarian would always be ongoing and challenging as well.
If you are not learning you should be teaching, for those are the traits of a good, Chef, then and now.
Following a diversified Tour in the U.S. Navy I returned to the C.I. A. to teach for two years , then started on a 30 year adventure.
On Cape Cod, Mass. I started honing my professional skills at many different and unique operations, from Exclusive Country Clubs, Fast paced free standing restaurants right down to my own restaurant.
Then turned the tables and headed south and ended up in ORLANDO, Fl.
Ran the Contempory Hotel at Walt Disney World, went on to Manage the Mission Inn, The Sheraton Hotel at Fl. Mall, Corp. R&D Hard Rock World Wide and more.Had time in between to do R&D as a consultant for Procter& Gamble, Jeannie-O turkey ,Hormel and many more.
Then of course found time to find the love of my life, Michelle, and after a few years of schooling found her true calling as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine. Through all this we have Healing Herbal Soups a place we feel can bring a wealth of happiness and heath to all those that we shall reach.
